After looking online, I couldn't find a clear answer. So, due to stuff, I'll be upgrading my motherboard and CPU. I have Windows 10 installed on an ssd, along with some important programs, and I have an hdd for my files and some games. Will I have to reinstall windows, and/or my programs when I upgrade?

CURRENT:
Gigabyte H170M-D3H
Intel i7 6700

UPGRADE:
Asus z170 Deluxe
Intel i7 6700k

Hey there, marooncow!

You'd need a new genuine Windows Installation with your new mobo and CPU. The operating system communicates with the motherboard, upgrading it is like changing the computer altogether. For more details and assistance with Windows OS, contact MS support.
You should definitely backup any important data from the SSD & HDD to an off-site location (like an external HDD) before the upgrade. Indeed, you'd also need new installations of all your software. They won't work with the new motherboard.

Good luck!

Thank for clearing that up! Its a bit sad to have to reinstall the software though

Hello there again, marooncow!

Yes, you can't escape that one, unfortunately. As I already mentioned changing the mobo is like changing the PC. You can't use the same software without reinstalling it. The most important thing is to have your data backed up and make sure you won't be erasing anything important when you install the new OS on the new mobo with the old drives. There are some Windows install & optimization guides for SSDs & HDDs you can refer to, if needed.

Best of luck! :)
