Hi guys. My new motherboard jsut came in teh other day and i stoked to install it. Just wondering though if there is any way i can get it to read my hard drive without reinstalling windows or if i do is there any way of keeping the data on the drive? I currently have an ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS and im upgrading to an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0. Thanks for the help guys

When you install Windows on a specific machine, the Install process surveys hardware of the pc and it identifies and installs all the drivers for all that specific hardware. But even so if you're lucky and windows boots up it will have used different drivers that your new mobo maybe doesn't even have.
All your files will still be in the hdd, back up your things maybe to another drive and then just reinstall window with the new mobo.

I have moved from nForce590 to Z77 without reinstalling Windows so moving between AMD motherboards should be fine. Going from G33 to Q45 and Z77 to Z97 was no problem.

That said, it's never a bad idea to reinstall.
