I got my PC almost an year now. The Specs:

CPU: AMD 9370 4.4GHZ
GPU: Club3D Radeon HD 7970 Royal Ace
Motherboard: ASRock 990FX Extreme 9
Memory: 16 GB DDR 1600MHz Ram
Power: Club3D 1000Watt

So I'm going to Upgrade my GPU but I don't know if my GPU is Compatible with any of the newer series from AMD like the R9 290x or anything like that. Plus is it smart to go CrossFire or should I just get an entire new GPU like a GTX 780 ti or GTX 970 (as I'm going for Nvidia for sure then) or will that screw up with my AMD CPU. Would like to get some more clear info on this as the internet itself just confuses me.

Well that is a great gpu as it is. But i say given the specs go for the crossfire . And yeah mostly amd processors gives problem when using nvidia card. So i suggest stay with the amd cards. Why do you really need to crossfire? I think you must be running games at max preset as it is.

I love High Resolution Gaming. One of the main reasons I switched from console to PC. But I often get lag spikes in my FPS which isnt stable at all most of the time which bothers me. So if it keeps being unstable I want it to be unstable on an frame rate I cant see the difference between it. Thanks for the tip though really appreciate it 😀

Well welcome to PC gaming society 😀 although the game depends too. What game are you playing? Usually the reason on lag spike is that every console has same specs which enables the developer to easily optimize it on the other hand PC has a wide range of specs which is troublesome for the developers so either they don't care for the game optimization or they do it for most common hardware.

Well I almost got my PC for a year now and still enjoy it everyday haha. At the moment I play alot of Arche Age but used to play alot of League Of Legends which I actually reject playing that much but it was so addictive haha. I also used to play Battlefield 4 alot but at one point I started having lag spikes which make me quit the game cause it bothered me alot. I like to play Co-oP game's with my friends and I have the new Call Of Duty laying on my doormat at home at the moment if I'm right. (never played CoD on PC) Also like to play RTS games and I'm really excited to get Civ Beyond Earth too.

Well i take it Arche Age is RPG online game right? If it is i say there lies the reason of your lag spike. As for battlefield 4 i can't really say what caused it maybe some background process spiked it, were you playing multiplayer? Well i say i enjoy the call of duty although they use the same engine over and over again it is the story that keep me engaged. Also if i were you i would try mass effect trilogy and Batman series too they are damn amazing.

Yes ArcheAge is an MMORPG but I didnt see any lagspikes there though. I am really exited about the new CoD and to play a CoD game for the first time on a PC (used to be addicted to it on Xbox) I played BF4 multiplayer most of the time. I'm not really that much of an SinglePlayer gamer but I might give it a try as I got em once in an humblebundle

Well if you are a multiplayer gamer then i say lag spike is from the due to heavy server load, or distant servers or bad game optimization. I can vouch for hd 7970 but i never had amd processor so i can't say for it, it can be the reason but that is unlikely. Most of the MMORPG games like LoL and WoW causes lag spike due to their server and causes artifacts and lagging just because they are not optimized and there are plenty of threads in this forum about them.

Well just orderd this beauty already excited about it hope this will reduce the lag spikes 😀 http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4845#ov
