Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU to play the division in 1440p.

I'm thinking about getting a EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB

Would I be better off getting a EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB

Or maybe 2?

For the Division in 1440p, you would need a minimum of a single 980ti or 2x 970s in SLI to be able to run it at above 60fps on high settings.

2 970's will give you slightly better performance (between 2-10%) in many games, but come with added power usage and thermal output.

However, the main reason I strongly suggest a single 980ti over SLI 970s is the risk of bad SLI support. Many games, both old and new alike, have released with either bad or no SLI support, resulting in either poor performance or you being forced to only use one card. Even big AAA titles like the recent Tomb Raider game was guilty of this.

In my opinion, the lower cost, power draw, temperature and risk of the 980ti is worth the slight performance drop in some games.

** BUT **

As RCFProd mentioned, if you can stomach the wait, Nvidia's Pascal line of GPUs are set to release soon and may turn out to be worth the wait.
