Upgrading my laptop.

Hello,
I have a toshiba satellite laptop and can't get the pc version of Battlefield bad company 2 to work. It loads and starts to play then just before the game begins ...the whole program just shuts off. It's a four year old laptop. Is there a way to upgrade it to work with this game?
