I currently have a asus p8z77-v pro with Windows 7 as my operating system.

I use this computer for recording audio and it is rock solid in performance. But I'm about to upgrade my recording interface to the Apollo 8p which requires Mac or Windows 10 and Thunderbolt 2.

Because my PC is so stable, I have no reason to buy a new one. So I just need some pointers in the right direction:

1. What is an up to date version of my current motherboard that has Thunderbolt 3 technology? Obviously I want the latest version of Thunderbolt so my investment will last as long as possible.

2. Should I install Windows 10 before or after the new motherboard?

3. Will I have to do a new install of Windows 10 and overwrite the existing data on my harddrive?

Thanks in advance for the help!

What you do with hard drive is up to you. I suggest you transfer stuff you want to keep to DVDs or Cloud storage.
