So as the title describes I am in the market for giving my PC a bit of an upgrade, focusing on Motherboard, Ram and a new CPU. My current Specs are:

CPU - FX 6300
Moba - Gigabyte ga 78lmt usb 3.0
Ram - 8gb Ballistix Sport 1333mhz
GPU - R9 390 8GB (Not looking to upgrade this as I upgraded this recently)
PSU - EVGA B2 Supernova 750W

So obviously in need of an upgrade, and after some research between Z97, then Z170, and eventually X99. I have settled for X99 as it seems it will last me longer, give me more power, and is just better than the other options. So therefore I have selected parts for the upgrade:

CPU - i7 5820k
Moba - MSI x99a Gaming 7
Ram - 16GB Corsair Vengance LPX 3000mhz
(And eventually a h100i GTX to overclock the 5820k)

So I was just looking for any comments, suggestions and tips as to this upgrade?
Is it worth the money? or should I be investing in something cheaper?
(Bearing in mind I do a bit of content creation, and a lot of gaming)

Thanks for Reading and Merry Christmas!

I was looking at a 6700k for the better performance in single and dual / quad core tasks. And while being £20 cheaper.

However I do do a bit of content creation and find the rendering times absurd with my current setup, while a 6700k would certainly be better at rendering, a 5820k, with 2 extra physical and another 2 virtual cores would be much much better. And with a decent overclock can easily rival and is actual better at gaming performance than the 6700k. As while as being more future proof with DDR4 and the X99 Platform.

This is why i settled for the 5820k over the 6700k. However if i cannot achieve...

This is why i settled for the 5820k over the 6700k. However if i cannot achieve that overclock, the 6700k is still superior, and I only do a bit of content creation not tons, therefore meaning the 6700k could be better. So I am stuck between the 5820k or the 6700k.
