Hi,

I want to upgrade my old Dell XPS 8100 Graphics card and 350w PSU.
Here are the current spec of the computer:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240
Memory 6.1 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit

I want to get a graphics card for gaming and a 500w PSU for around £150 I also want to make sure they are both compatible with my computer as I am not sure how to check so i need your advice on which to choose. I am also not sure if i need to upgrade my motherboard? If any of you guys could help that would be great

Thanks.

When getting a power supply always base it around your components. If a GPU needs at least 400W, get a 450 or 500 watt power supply. If your GPU needs any additional connectors such as 6 pin, also abide by the 12V rail amperage. If the card needs at least 20amps, then a power supply with dual 12V 10A rails would work because the two rails are adjoined together. 2 x 10 = 20.

you may use any kind of PSU greater than 500w for 500gb HDD and upto 650ti oc GPU.
otherwise i would like to suggst you www.pcpartpicker.com
