I have an old Lenovo H215 (had it since my childhood), and I want to upgrade it for modern use (mostly gaming). Problem is, I don't want to upgrade motherboard due to the hassle of reinstalling windows and having to plug everything back in. I already upgraded my PSU about two years ago to a 500 Watt one. I am thinking of using a Phenom ii x4 980 with a GTX 1050 ti. Would the phenom be compatible and how well would it preform in modern games? Thank you.

It is possible that you could upgrade a mobo without needing to reinstall windows, but pretty likely if the change is from a very old one. It would help if you posted your current motherboard, as that is what needs to have compatibility with the new processor and fit the new GPU
