Hi, I want to upgrade this computer my brother passed down to me. I don't have a great knowledge of computers, so I want to optimize my PC to be able to use the GTX 660. I'm hoping for not too expensive upgrades Thanks.
Current Spec:
XFX nForce 790i Ultra 3-way SLI
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 3.00 GHz, 3000 Mhz
6 gb Ram
and power source is a Corsair 550 watts.
What should i upgrade so I wont bottleneck the GTX 660, and which card can fit into my motherboard Thanks. I was hoping to get http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-SUPERCLOCKED-Graphics-02G-P4-2662-KR/dp/B00966IREK
Thank you very much.

What is your budget? You most likely have to replace your CPU/MOBO to get the best performance boost. Here is a few examples:

Intel Option:
Intel Core i5-3350P Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 69W Quad-Core $179

MSI ZH77A-G43 LGA 1155 Intel H77 $84

AMD Option:
AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz Socket AM3 $169

Gigabyte 990 MOBO $89

I don't really want to switch out my Motherboard, and I don't want to spend more than $100 dollars on a CPU, so I was thinking of maybe trying the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz
Would that bottleneck the GTX 660?

BTW, is the card I linked good? and will it last me for a good time? For example, my current GPU is the gtx 8800 alpha dog and it has lasted my brother and me for more than 5 years? and it is still able to run new games on medium or low. Also if I upgrade my card to the one linked above, and not change the CPU, will the bottleneck be a big issue or will it be alright?
