Looking to upgrade my PC rn, this is my RIG atm.

Was thinking of just slotting in a 4070ti and a 1440p monitor, along with maybe more storage. Is that a stupid way to upgrade? or should I just go for it with the 1200ish budget I have? idk how much monitors cost tbh I haven't looked into it yet so any help on what gpu/monitor exactly I should get is a nice help

Thanks a lot! (99% of my usage is gaming btw)

I would upgrade the cpu and add a decent cooler to it for now and wait to see the reviews on sites such as this one for the RTX 4070 and 4060 when they are released next month.

Would the CPU work with my motherboard and be fully compatible?

a full platform upgrade would cost $400 more cuz of new ram and mobo. If you are upgrading just CPU, go for 5800X3D.

I would also look into getting a better PSU, something like this:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor ($319.00 @ GameStop)
CPU Cooler: Deepcool AG500 BK ARGB 67.88 CFM CPU Cooler ($46.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Asus TUF GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB Video Card ($799.99 @ B&H)
Case: Cooler Master MasterBox MB511 RGB ATX Mid Tower Case (Purchased For $0.00)
Power Supply: Corsair RM750e 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.99 @ Best Buy)
Total: $1265.96
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

You could try to sell your current GPU, monitor and CPU to get a new 1440p panel like this maybe? Samsung Odyssey G52A 32.0" 2560 x 1440 165 Hz Monitor (LS32AG520PNXZA) - PCPartPicker

This looks pretty good, but the idea of relying on finding a buyer to get my monitor is a bit... idk lol, i was thinking so far that i'd get a 4070ti, 5700x, and a GIGABYTE M27Q (-p?)

Depending on the game, your first limitation may be either cpu or gpu.
Try this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

If you need a stronger graphics card, you will also need a stronger psu; like in the 850w range.

If you need more cpu grunt, like I think, there are some good upgrades still available to you. A bios update to support 5000 series processors is likely needed and should be done before changing out the chips.
The X3d processors are optimized for games; the 5800X3D would be a significant upgrade.

What monitor do you now have?
A large 4k monitor is a very satisfying upgrade, but the price may be too high for you.
If you play fast action games, that leads you down one monitor path, and if you play slower visually oriented games such as RPG,MMO,sims that is another.

Okay, I'll test it out later today and get back to you,
Acer VG271 Pbmiipx is my monitor (1080p 144hz)
was looking at the GIGABYTE M27Q (-p?) (1440p 170 hz)

Putting settings lower seemed to increase fps by quite a bit, so i think its mostly my gpu atm.

The Samsung monitor i listed is 370 USD. For 70 USD more, you are getting a bigger screen and a brighter display (350nits vs 400nits)

And i believe its worth that 70 dollar premium...

Otherwise, instead of the gigabyte one, you could even go for a cheaper 2k display like this acer one: Acer XV320QU LVbmiiphx 31.5" 2560 x 1440 144 Hz Monitor (UM.JX0AA.V01) - PCPartPicker
my budgets already being pushed so the 70 bucks is significant, ill look into the other one though
