Parts to Upgrade: CPU, mobo, RAM

Do you need to buy OS: Yes (new mobo?)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Fortunate to live by a MicroCenter

Location: Illinois United States

Parts Preferences: AMD, ASRock (open to other mobos)

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1440p, but would consider 4K

Additional Comments:

I am finally upgrading my current motherboard, cpu, and RAM (8700k, 16gb DDR4, ASRock Extreme 4 Gen 4 mobo). I will be keeping my EVGA 3080ti in my Meshify C case with a M2 ssd, regular ssd, and an Evga Supernova 220-G3-0850-X1, 850 G3, 80 Plus Gold 850W power supply. I was planning on using my dark rock pro 4 air cooler with a new mounting kit, unless you guys think that will underperform? I personally do not trust the AIO coolers long term and really do not have the room in the Meshify C. I live near a MicroCenter so everything will be purchased through them (man I am I lucky!). I am open to any and all changes, especially the motherboard. I personally chose ASRock because I have had excellent experiences with them in every build I've done. Is boot time still an issue? Thanks in advance.

This is strictly used for gaming, maybe some very light Adobe premiere use.

I see no issues with your selection. Enjoy!

The DRP4 is a good cooler. Should handle that CPU just fine.

(Save yourself $50 for just +2 CAS?) Not sure if this is an inventory error at the Westmont store or what

Is that 2 CAS a big difference? RAM is one of the things I know least about! I'm also wondering if RAM clearance height with the DRP4 will be an issue. I currently have RGB RAM with no issue. I definitely do not need RGB.

CL30 vs CL32 isn't going to make much/any difference, no.

Failing that (seemingly unbelievable) $80 kit from MC, newegg has this DDR5-6000 CL30 kit for $100 today. No RGB, but nice short heatsinks so you wont have to worry about CPU heatsink clearance.
Hey thanks for the replies. That looks like a solid kit, but isn't the "neo" specially tuned for Ryzen? I'm new to the AMD platform, but I thought I read that somewhere.
