Current specs:
  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • ASUS PRIME RTX 5070
  • 32GB DDR5 6000MHz
  • 2TB NVME
  • MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk
  • MSI MPG A850G 850W Gold
  • Windows 11
With certain games, specifically Escape from Tarkov and PUBG, streaming on Discord will reduce my frames to single digits. My whole system essentially just seizes up. I've tried reducing the stream quality to 720p / 30fps with no luck. I'm using the exact same settings I used on my previous system (i9-10900K + RTX 3070 + 32GB DDR4 4800MHz) which had absolutely no issues, regardless of the game.

My best guess is that it's related to GPU usage. My second guess is a Windows setting somewhere but I'm fairly certain all of my settings ported over since they're cloud saved.

Any advice on how to troubleshoot this?

How are you cooling the processor? Make and model of your case? What sort of temps do you see when the system is taxed, with your game and streaming simultaneously?

MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk
What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

MSI MPG A850G 850W Gold
How old is the PSU?

32GB DDR5 6000MHz
Go a link to the ram kit used?

Can you pass on a screenshot of your settings in the Voice & Video section of Discord?

What driver version are you on for your GPU? Speaking of software, what version(not edition) of Windows 11 are you on?

Kraken 240 RGB in an H7 Flow (both by NZXT). CPU temp reaches about 40°C under heavy load and the GPU hovers between 50°C - 60°C. I haven't checked the temps when gaming + streaming via Discord so I'll have to get back to you on that one.

v1A44 from 4/24/25.

Brand new. NZXT built this system for me at the end of April.

Version 24H2, Build 26100.4652.

NVIDIA driver version is 580.88 from 7/31/25. I was on a previous version that had the same issue. I haven't updated since July as there was a megathread on Reddit about the 5070 getting bricked by the newer drivers.

FWIW, I've had this PC since mid-May.

Make sure you're on the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard then flash to the latest BIOS version(which is 7E51v1A65, at the time of writing).

Ram has AMD's E.X.P.O on it, so shouldn't be the issue there either.

Yeah, Nvidia have been horrible in the drivers department, to the point AMD's cards look like a better deal. Try and disable the iGPU in BIOS, then get into Safe Mode to use DDU and remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) then manually install the latest(stable) driver version sourced from Nvidia in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Check to see if Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority is enabled in Discord. Try with hardware acceleration disabled.
