Upgrading question help

I have a I5 3570k , 16 gb ram 1600 mhz, GTX 970
If I went to I7 8700, 16 gb ram 2666 mhz would I see a big performance gain in gaming?

There will be a difference depending on the games you play. It will be mostly noticeable on CPU intensive games (e.g. Prey). However, the CPU will perform MUCH faster in multitasking.
I suggest evaluating whether the cost is worth a performance gain (about 30%). Do this by checking for bottlenecks or limitations due to CPU inadequacy.
