Upgrading RAM on Medion Akoya P5300 D

Hi all,

I currently have 6gb of RAM on my Medion Akoya P5300 D. I want to upgrade this to 8gb of RAM. The problem is that I do not know if it will fit on my motherboard.

These are the relevant motherboard specs:

Specifications:

Socket LGA1155
Northbridge Intel H67
FSB 1066 / 1333 MHz
RAM Memory slots: 4
RAM Memory type DDR3; 1066/1333Mhz; 4GB per slot
Memory configuration Dual Channel

If so, I will simply buy two of these and plug them in 2 of the 4 slots and I would have 8gb RAM..

Yes, you can. Just stick it on the free slot and everything is good to go.


I suppose you already have one 4GB Ram stick and another 2 GB stick or 3 sticks of 2 GB. Which one?

If it's the first option I'd recommend gettin the same brand, speed and size of the current you already have ( 4GB Ram ). Put them in the same colored slots in your MOBO ( if they have all the same color, but them side by side ) so they'll work in dual channel.

If the second, just get a forth stick of 2 GB and put in the remaining slot.

It'll work perfectly!

Thanks for your quick answer! Currently all 4 slots are occupied, with 2 brown cards and 2 green. I suppose that each one of them is 1.5 GB then? I plan to remove all four, and buy 2 4GB RAMs and insert those.

Also, where can I see the current brand speed and size of my 6gb RAM?

I didn't know they made 1.5 GB RAM... Thought it was mutiples of 2 only. Well, learned something else. lol

The best (and easiest) way to do that is to download a program called CPU-Z
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

It scans your PC and detects every piece of hardware and show on screen for you. That way you'll be able to see everything you want from your current RAMs ( and futures ones ).

If you're going to replace them all ( i suggest you do ) buy the next two RAMs in a pair. 2x4GB - or even 4x4GB - would be optimal, that way they will work in dual channel properly.
