Hello!

I am writting this because I want to know if it's possible to upgrade and keep the current RAM.
So one PC1 has the following specs:
CPU: i5 8400
MOBO: ASUS PRIME Z370-P
RAM: CRUCIAL 8GB DDR4 2400 CL16 1.2V

I would like to know what has to be the same about a RAM to be compatible? Or will i have to buy a new set of 2x8?

And the PC2 has the following specs:
CPU: I5 6600K
MOBO: ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
RAM: 2X CRUCIAL 4GB DDR4 3000 CL15 1.35V DIMM

Here I would also like to know if I can have 4x4 RAM ? Or am I once again better of buying a new pair?

Both of these PC's are 2.5 years old.

Thank you in advance!
Alex

Solution
Better off buying a set, 2x 8GB for both and try sell your current ram / keep as spare for troubleshooting. Sets are tested so it's a gamble to mix. I get there's savings to be had but just make sure you can return if buying singular doesn't work out.

Increased chance of success is keep capacity, timings and voltage the same.
