Upgrading Skylake cpu to Kaby Lake cpu BIOS driver update

I wanted to upgrade my i5 6400 to an i7 7700k but I realize I need to update my BIOS first.
I currently have the R01-A1 (10/7/2015) version of the BIOS and I'm wondering which BIOS version I need to install for my Kaby Lake processor to work. I assume I would need a R02-xx version but I'm not sure if i can go from R01 to R02 without causing issues.

Could anyone tell me which version i should download?

Im using the Acer G3-710 motherboard.

It looks like if you are upgrading from R01, but not using a Kaby Lake processor, you'd choose R02 A2. I think that's why R02 A1 says 'not upgrade from R01', it's not for people just looking for a bios upgrade. It's specifically for using a Kaby Lake CPU.

There's some horrible terminology used by Acer. I have no idea what "not upgrade from R01" means.

I think i'm probably safer just getting a new motherboard to be honest. I think it might not be compatible with R02
