[SOLVED] Upgrading to 1440p, or should I?

I've recently put together a new system and got lucky and managed to get a RTX 3070 FE.

I've been rocking a benq xl2411z for my entire gaming career. It was perfect back when I used to play fps games competitively, such as CSGO.
However since I spent a good amount on a new system and the fact the RTX 3070 FE has displayport, it will not work with monitor any more. I was forced to buy an adapter in hope it will hold up the 144hz but it was hit or miss, the adapter sucks. I purchased the DELL BIZLINK DISPLAYPORT to DVI-D DUAL and when 144hz is selected text and everything seems extremely blurry, this can be somewhat fixed when I change to 120hz. So the adapter is not good enough right?

I have the funds to upgrade to a new monitor but I'm kind of scared to take the leap to 1440p. It sounds stupid but I've been using 1920x1080 for so long I'm worried if I was to get a 1440p display I won't be able to play fps games competitively like I would on my old display. What are your thoughts on a 1440p and still being able to game at a competitive level?

I've done some research and I'm finding it difficult to actually find a monitor during this current year which will be amazing. People told me it's about luck nowadays, the monitor I will buy can be broken or something straight out the box, is that true?

Here are some monitors I found, do you guys have anything better? Which of these should I go for?

Go for it, I have a 2080 Ti (comparable to your 3070) and a 1440p 144Hz monitor, it pretty much handles AAA titles at 144 on ultra. I play Gears of war mostly but that's also pretty competitive and my frames are always above 100 with everything cranked to max. CoD, apex legends, etc, should all be able to stay above 100 as well. And the quality of 1080p vs 1440p is pretty noticeable if you put them side by side. 1440p is MUCH clearer and provides a more definitive quality to make out enemies ever further away. I ain't ever going back to 1080p for my main.

Thanks for your reply. I'll get a 1440p monitor but now I have the problem with picking which one lol. I have found so many, I don't want to regret my decision when I purchase.
1440p 240hz would be too much for my rig right?

which one should i go for ? Some of these monitors is 165hz or 170hz, is this something I need?

The LG 27in looks good, it has a good IPS panel, fast response times, and includes nvidia gsync. Though if you have the money and desk real-estate, a 32" would be one hell of a main monitor to have. The sheer panel size will give you so much viewing space.

Geeze that's in-depth. Either of those would be fine, overall you'd still get a fine picture and decent brightness. Adaptive sync / free-sync are basically the same as gsync, so don't worry about it.

I have this one.

as you see i'm struggling haha, i'm not satisfied until someone specifically tells me "this monitor is amazing, but it now!" then i'll have some hope. right now i'm getting different answers from people to go with DELL, LG and Asus.
