Hello!

I have decided that I am going to make the leap from an old membrane keyboard to a mechanical. I know which keyboard I am choosing however there are two switch types to choose from and I am unsure which I will be more comfortable with quicker. I have decided on the Corsair K70 with either red or brown switches. I do a lot of gaming in my spare time however I am also a keen programmer.

I would like to how strong the tactile bump is on the browns? Is it something that you just feel or does it require more force to get over the bump?

Thanks.

I haven't owned a brown-switch keyboard, but I own a black-switch one which is a lot similar to red-switch. I do a lot of coding as well, and I can say that it can be rather hard to get used to. While it does require very little pressure to get to the actuation point of the key, it is very difficult to determine whether you've pressed the key or not, and that's why I end up with a lot of typos (I blind-type). Also I tend to downpress the keys far beyond their actuation point anyway. In gaming it doesn't make that much difference; but yes, you'll be able to press keys quicker (good for playing MOBA games and such). But for typing, I'd probably go with browns or blues next time.

Thanks for the reply. Based on what you've said and what I've been reading, it is mostly down to personal preference but I have decided to go with the browns as I feel like I would need to know when I've actuated a key considering I am a very sloppy typist! I appreciate your help. 😀
