Hello Friends,

I am new here.I have AMD Radeon HD 5450 graphics card in my PC.Now I want to upgrade it,so I am saving money for a new one to buy around next year.My choice is nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1060.
My PC config is:-

Processor- AMD FX-6300 Six Core 3.5 GHz(on stock cooler,so I can't overclock it and basically I don't want to do it)

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P

RAM - 8GB DDR3

HDD - Seagate 1TB

Power Supply - Corsair VS Series VS550(going to buy in next 2 months)

Monitor - Samsung SyncMaster 773s 17 inch(Max Refresh Rate is 85 Hz,I use 75 Hz)

Games - I generally play Ultra Street Fighter IV,Street Fighter V,Dead Or Alive Last Round 5,Dragon Ball Xenoverse,Splinter cell,Tomb Raider,Batman Arkham series. In future I want to play Mad Max Fury Road,Batman Arkham Knight,PES 2017,Rise of the Tomb Raider,Splinter Cell Division,Tekken 7.

Friends, I know my monitor is old and my display resolution is 1024*768.I play all my games in that resolution.I bought the CPU and MOBO just nearly 1and half or 2 years ago,so I cant change them now. I have read some of the discussion here about my CPU will bottleneck the new GTX 1060.My basic criteria is to play game (new and old) in 60+ fps with highest settings. So please let me know that if GTX 1060 will fulfil my criteria on my present PC configuration or it will be too bad for my PC.Please help.

Thank you.

Solution
If you can't replace the monitor now anyway, I'd go with the 1060, newer, faster, and you can move it to a faster system in the future. It will run games well a few years past the 960.
A 1060 is fine, but your CPU is a big bottleneck for 60 fps at top settings. The VS power supply is the lowest tier from Corsair, I would not get that for a gaming system. Also gaming on a 17" monitor is silly. You are better off getting a cheaper video card, getting a better monitor, and running games on medium settings. A 22 or 24" 1080 monitor and a Radeon GTX 470 should be good enough to pair with the FX-6300 for good settings at 1080.

Thank you for our valuable suggestion,my friend :). Friend, I want to know that if I buy GeForce GTX 960 4GB then will it go well with my AMD FX-6300 Processor ? Thank You

+Amit_84 So you currently have a 1024 x 768 monitor.

If you might upgrade to 1080p within the next year, then get the GTX 1060; pay no more than $260.
If you never plan to upgrade to 1080p, then get the GTX 950; pay no more than $150.

To be clear, I'm not as concerned about bottlenecks as most people are. My main concern is that it's overkill for your resolution of 1024 x 768; which it definitely is. By the way, consider also saving in the future for 1080p IPS screen (24" preferable). It's truly a wonderful experience.

Addendum: Last week I saw an EVGA GTX 750 Ti selling on NewEgg for $80 after a $20 (or $30) rebate card. If you can find a deal like that again, then opt for the 750 Ti instead of the GTX 950.

Thank all of you for your valuable suggestion,my friends :).Yes, I want to upgrade my monitor to a 1080p monitor but unfortunately not in the next year.I live in India and a 960 GTX will cost nearly 20,000 INR and 1060 GTX will cost maybe 3000 INR more.So I can save money for a Graphics Card only.So may be after that year I can buy a 1080p monitor. Now I am only focusing on a good graphics card.

My choice is 960 GTX 4GB and 1060 GTX 6 GB. So I am asking all of you what should I get ? I mean which will be more optimum to my current PC configuration. Please suggest. Thanks again.
