Hi, I am new to this site and i am wondering about information, to be clear about things, I have a gaming set up i would love to upgrade, and my main focus is a GPU... I was looking to find a good gpu for the right price. and it would fit on my motherboard and inside my case.

I got the pc as stock with the gpu installed. so things are alittle stock for a gaming rig, but at the moment i run things find but i would like to upgrade since gt 640 is outdated.

I don't know if i can link anything within this thread.. but i want to ask rather than find my answer, and have replies that are relevant to me and my situation.

So let's start with the normal PC specs:

CPU: Intel core I5 4440 (3.10GHz)
*GPU: Nvidia Geforce GT 640 (zotac) (2gigs DDR3)
Memory: DDr3 16 Gigs of ram at 1866 Mhz {just upgraded these not too long ago
Motherboard: Model 2AF7 {Hewlett packard}
Power supply: (Don't know the name) 460W

Case: HP Envy 700-074
Product number: H5Q09AA

Okay now you understand my specs. My question is:
Can i fit a gtx 1050 on my motherboard considering the width being 2 slots as to the gt 640 only using a single slot?
I am also hesitated about installing as well.

Please let me know, I gave all the info as stated you can look them up if you want.

I am confuse by this.

*** Forgot to mention, i also worry about the video card overheating... And Maybe other solutions rather a 1050, maybe a 900 card... please do recommend, please... no amd cards. i like nividia. ***

Solution
it will fit in your motherboard but i would highly recommend spending a small amount more and getting the 1050ti much better performance for a small price difference. https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-DisplayPort-128-bit-ZT-P10510A-10L/dp/B01MCU1ERO/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482908469&sr=1-1&keywords=1050ti

Also do notworry about installing it is not hard at all just make sure the power to your pc is off and this site may be helpful to you :)

It will definitely fit in your motherboard and therefore it will also fit in your case. However your power supply is pretty weak. Its technically within specifications, but if that power supply inst a name brand I wouldn't trust it.

It came with the pc. So brand name is HP. Something XD

Thanks Deverick37, I was hoping to back away from zotac and get Evga or asus cause it looks cooler 😀

Trying to stay away from AMD stuff right now...

Thats not gonna be sufficient for powering your processor plus a new graphics card. If it isn't 80+ certified then you cant guarantee it will supply even 80% of the PSU's rated power. Not a risk I would be willing to take on a short budget because it could fry your new graphics card. look for a 500W PSU from EVGA. They arent that expensive and they will keep you safely covered.

If your in the USA, this one would do you just fine.
