Upgrading to GTX 980 and need some help

Hey guys, I've lately asked here regarding the GTX 970 but since then I managed to scratch some more cash and may go for the 980.
my questions are though:
will it suit the ASUS P67 Sabertooth ?
will it work with PCI-E 2.0 ? (as that's what I got on the mobo)
will my i5 2500K bottleneck it ?
does it require a different power supply cable/aux-wise than my GTX 570 ?

Also, I've set my sight on the Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming, is it the best choice ?

1.) Yes

3.) No, a 2500K isn't a bottleneck on any single GPU at this time.

4.) Not really, unless you want to try and downsize your power supply for some reason. The 980 has a lower TDP than your 570, respectively via much newer architecture. They also both require two 6-pin connectors. A worthy upgrade

Oh one last thing, altough it will work on the PCI-e 2.0, does it actually choke it compared to a PCI-e 3.0?

gigabyte - IMHO no. Best choice would be cheapest available (equivalent) 980 when you buy it. What resolution, graphics settings, and games are you trying to play at? A 980 is massive overkill if you have a single 900P and playing WoW.

It will work great in your motherboard even at pcie 2.0. Your processor, is it overclocked? If not, i recommend doing so to keep up with this gpu.

I have an Asus strix 970 and I really like it. It's cool and quiet. I have read that the G1 cards are louder but push more air, which will allow it to overclock better. If you don't plan on overclocking, I wouldn't spend the extra money.

The G1 requires two 8-pin pcie power connectors. I believe the 570 required two 6-pin. Your power supply should have 2 8 pin, but if not you may be able to find molex to 8pin adapters.

Menetlaus, with the recent WoW deferred lighting engine change, the only way to play with good antialiasing is with 4k DSR. At 4k resolution, it's not overkill with everything on ultra.

I wish to run the most of heaviest games on 1080p 1920X1080 single monitor at max settings.. such as The Witcher 3 (which is probably going to be very heavy load like its little brother The Witcher 2), Far Cry 4, Dragon Age Inquisition, Assassins Creed Unity, Star citizen (when it releases 😛) and you get the picture haha.

If we got into this much detail, do I actually need the 980 instead of the 970 for the 1080p ? I mean, I would like to stay away from the graphic upgrade for atleast a few years after making the purchase.. don't really mind the noise as I usualy play with music or high volume.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
and under the Clocks tab, Core Speed : 1599.63 MHz

Don't worry bout that 1.6GHz clock speed in CPU-Z. that is the current actual speed - and that CPU underclocks itself (saves power) when not doing anything.

I have a 2500K myself in my gaming system (with a CM hyper 212+) and I've upped the max turbo to a 44x multiplier in the bios. When my system idles - it sits at 1.6GHz, under load - 4.4GHz 😉
