I have a Crucial BX100 250GB drive and I want to upgrade to a 500GB+/- drive. What are some of the fastest and most popular drives to consider? I know people like the Samsung 850 EVO's.

Any specific drives better than others? My budget is anywhere in the $150 range, I'll spend a little more if it means a much better drive.

Thanks for this. These are the exact 2 drives I was considering since I've always been a Crucial fan, and I've always heard the Samsung EVO's are top. UserBench shows the Samsung being 34% quicker, seems worthy to go for the speed over the extra 25GB. Any reasons to choose the Crucial over the Samsung at the same price (And not worrying about the 25GB smaller size)?

My Mobo is quite old, z68x-ud3h-b3, I guess it could probably be used through a PCI-E adapter. Worth the hassle?

Nah, just use the SATA connections.

I always wanted the Samsung way back but they were always more expensive than the Crucial's. This time they are the same price minus the 25GB, I'm going for the EVO.

Thanks Everyone!

The MX500s are supposed to be competitive, both price and performance wise, with the Samsung drives, plus have a better warranty.

While the Samsung 850 EVO is a great drive, I wish I'd held off another 2 or 3 months, so that I could've picked up a Crucial MX500.
