I recently bought a laptop with Windows 7 preinstalled and it came with Windows 8.1 Pro. I just created a bootable USB seeing as I don't have a optical drive but before I upgrade I was wondering what happens to all the stuff on the computer now? It has some Geforce apps and Intel stuff to manage the computer fan, keyboard backlight etc...

Will all that stuff remain?

It depends on how you will do the upgrade, but I think that you have to install win8 versions of most of the stuff.
I personally installed win8 to machine that used to have winxp. It is best if you can download all motherboard drivers to hard drive or external device before you make the upgrade. For example I did not get internet connection until I installed network and some other drivers to the computer after OS upgrade. And it may be difficult to get those drivers without internet connection...
Most of the win7 stuff is compatible with win8, but not all, so there may be some drivers that you have to re-install until everything starts working right.
The best part may be that you can not install anything from usb-stick because you don't have usb drivers... But normally the standard usb driver from windows is enough, but not always. So have a plan B and all those drivers also in cd and or another hard drive!

I have also got a disc that says Utility Driver Disc on it I am guessing that is everything that is preinstalled including the Intel stuff hopefully? Also still got my old laptop if something goes wrong and I need to download stuff. I am considering waiting til tomorrow morning and buying an external DVD drive and installing via the disc instead of the bootable USB i made.

Edit: Just checked the utility disc content, has all the stuff on it :) So might go ahead and use the bootable USB.

Got it installed but now had problems turning the Utility driver disc into a USB Flash drive. Should I just copy its content over and use it like a normal USB? It contains a bunch of folders with install files in them and in the parent folder has an autorun.ini and DriverDisc.exe.

First install separately USB drivers then dry your original stick. It should work after that.
