Upgrading Video Card, Need Help.

Hello I saving to buy a new video card. What I want performance wise, is a card that will be able to play a game like Skyrim on Ultra at 720p with 60fps. Can you suggest a nVidia and an AMD choice? I don't really have a budget. Thanks for your help!

get a 670 or 7950, it really depends on how much you can spend or willing to spend (whichever is lower)

Well Im goin through the same thing right now, and I can tell you what ive managed to dig up. First thing, the 7970 is the best value/performance card on the market right now. The nvidia 680 some will say is a little faster, but comparing the two side by side, you're not likely to tell the difference between the two. If you dont really have a budget, go grab your self a 7990 or the 690. There both 1000 dollars, but there tier 1 gpu's. But if if you dont have a budget, have you considered upgrading your current cpu and motherboard?

Looking at your cpu specs, I would say a 650ti for their current price of $110 after MIR
think anything stronger will be held back by the cpu

A 7950, 670, 680 and 690 are not performance cards...they are enthusiast(high end) cards. Performance video cards(upper mainstream) are cards within the $200 range and recommends a 500-600 watt power supply. Before you buy a GPU, check your Power Supply first.

As $300 is of course out of my price range, (probably should have said so) and I would need to upgrade my PS and CPU for a card like the 670. So what is the best card I can get to play Skyirm on Ultra at 30FPS on 720p? I know they're older but would a 550 ti do they job? Or a 660? I've been looking at these specific cards.

550ti or 660 would certainly get the job done. Im currently playing skyrim on ultra with the official highres dlc and additional unofficial highres textures. Not only that Im also using several other visual enhancements such as volumetric fog, enbs and better lightingeffects. Everything on 1920x1200 with a 560 ti.

Awesome, I was thinking a 550 ti because on Newegg there is a refurbished EVGA 550 ti for only $100 bucks. I think it's a steal.

There is actually a 650ti which will preform better than the 550ti and is new for only $109 after MIR
