Upgrading

Looking at doing a big upgrade. As of now I have a PK5 Premiuim Board with Q6600@3.7+. My setup is liquid cooled in a wooden case. Just wanting input as to how much of a performance increase I will see going with and I5 2500 and what kind of overclocking can I see out of it. This will be paired with amd 6870s in crossfire or am I better off going another route

should see a big increase

and most 2500k will do 4.5ghz with decent cooling-- some will go further

my 2600k will do 5ghz with corsair h80 and 1.4v so 2500k can probably get to 5ghz as well if you get a good chip

It will be an upgrade although the Q6600 @3,7GHz holds its own. 5GHz with great cooling is not unrealistic. On the GPU's going with a single faster card would be free of dual card issues like micro stuttering and such.

I would go for something like a GTX 570 now and upgrade later. As for overclocking a 2500k with liquid cooling, it will be easy and you will get great results! I OCed my 2500k to 4.4Ghz with an h60 cooler and it runs great.
