Hello,
i recently decided it was time for an upgrade for my computer.

My budget is £300 max. (for the card, case and PSU.)

I'm looking to mostly play games like Dungeon Defenders, Dragon nest and skryim on atleast medium settings.

Specs:

Memory: 8Gb DDR3
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 435 Processor (3Cpus) ~2.9GHz
System Model:Aspire X3400
Operating System: Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
Resolution: 1366 x 768
Current video card: NVIDIA GeForce 9200

I was wanting to upgrade to this:

Could anyone suggest a better PSU and Case?

Thanks -
Tom

with that resolution in mind (1366 x 768) maybe some 550ti owners could add some comments to say if high settings would be achievable with the following (Skyrim in mind), I reckon they would
e.g.

Asus GTX 550 Ti 1GB GDDR5

these range from £99.81 to £105.94

Thanks for your reply.

I think i'll keep with a 560 Ti, but thanks for your input on that.

I heard somewhere that a 600w PSU would be needed to support a 560 Ti, is that true or would the one you suggested be just as good?

Also, i think that case is a little too.. fancy for me, but again, thanks for your help on that.

haha, no prob, Id always prefer full tower with great cooling having had a mid tower mATX set up previously - I love the large and silent fans in my HAF-X, it's all down to preference though and the NZXT is a bit flash looking, i think its quite stylish though

the 560ti according to nvidia reference says 500w

although there's certainly no harm in a little more power overhead

i lifted this from the manual for the model youve picked...

Minimum 500W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 30A) is recommended. Two 6-pin PCI-E supplementary power connector

so many decent psu out there, so many bad ones too, check this one - food for thought and reasonable price imo:

I see, how much would a decent CPU cost? Or is it not as simple as just buying a new one?

(sorry if that's a silly question, i'm quite new to this computer stuff.)
