Question Uploads to Google Services Impossible

Issue: My upload speeds are literally terrible, and it's only on my desktop. I wiped my desktop, and it was fixed for about a day. After that, my upload speeds to only Google services tanked again. On other devices, a 300mb video uploads in about a second. On my desktop, the estimate is "138 hours." It seems to only be Google services, as my personal server works fine with upload/download. All of my devices are connected to the same wifi. IHT says I have a ping of 4, 0 jitter, 876.6 Mbps download, and .4 Mbps upload.

I would try to disable IPv6 support in the nic settings. May not make any difference but it is not uncommon for some sites to use IPv4 and other IPv6 and get very different performance.

What does speedtest show for upload. If speedtest gets ok up load speeds then it is something strange with google.

Both Ookla and IHT say about .4 megabit upload, but I haven't noticed in on anything except Google. I can play games just fine, I can upload to my own server about about 100mb (not megabit) upload, and Microsoft OneDrive works.

Games will work because they use almost no bandwidth when you run them. Very few things need upload which is why you see ISP have bigger download rates than upload rates.

There is likely some software on your machine limiting the upload rate. In theory there could be something like parental controls on your router but you would generally remember if you had been playing with those settings.

Hard to say for sure. I would look for any software that claims to favor one kind of traffic over another. This sometime comes bundled with the bloatware with motherboards and video cards. cfosspeed is one common name. You want to uninstall any kind of software like this.

Since it will work to some things like your local server it is much less likely it is a hardware issue or driver issue.

You can try the standard boot a linux USB image. These have browsers built in so you can run normal speedtest. Problem is it just confirms it is some software on the machine if the linux sees good upload rates.

Way too much stuff for me to see anything. Asus armory crate depending on what options you used was one of the software packages that installed a silly gamer QoS thing. A lot of people complained so I am not sure what they install.

I would go through and try to stop or cancel programs in the task list and see if you can get the problem to go away. You want to run pretty much nothing but the upload application if you can.

I just unplugged my ethernet, and the upload speed is fixed. My download is cut in half, but the upload is back to 500.

Gigabit ethernet has no concept upload and download. It can send 1gbit at the same time it receives 1gbit.

Ethernet also has no concept of speed really. Very technically it runs either at full 1gbit speed or runs at zero. The numbers you see are averages from other software. Would not be very useful if you only saw 1gbit or zero but the ethernet port itself is not doing this averaging.

Not sure how you fixed it. There are a bunch of setting related to stuff like MTU size etc but you want all those running default.
