UPS battery replacement causes spark

Hi! I am replacing UPS worn out batteries with new ones, 4 battery.12v 9Ah x 4 I wired the batteries in the exact same way as the worn out was ... but connecting the RED wire (+) as the last one causing a considerably spark on the terminal. What should i do?

So.....when you go to connect it....it sparks....and then what......do you leave it connected? or do you disconnect it real fast?

Hi... I managed to connect the wire somehow using a mini 16A switch between the wire and the terminal, soldered it, turned on the switch,connect the wire,turned off switch and then unsoldered the switch.So... it didn't spark'd when the switch was turned on.I just removed the switch and it's all good now.
