Hey all.
I just tried to flash my 7970 GHz bios. Now I cant boot the PC. I cant see the blue screen it gives, because its going too fast, but I tried to unplug the 7970, tried to run safe mode (which fails to boot as well), tried the windows repair tool.
I don't know what to do next, as the only solutions I found are by going to the bios backup and re-flashing it, which I can't do as my PC wont boot in any mode.
What do I do next?
P.S, I have no support at all available besides you guys, for the next 2 days. I really need help. And fast. Got a game I need to attend tomorrow morning :|
Thanks!
P.S YES, I did use the right BIOS.
P.S.S When I try and boot in safe mode, it crashes exactly at the same driver every time, which is the CLASS.PNP .
Every time, the same driver. I dont rekon it will help, but worth writing if it will.

Solution
might or might not be related but did you try switching your SATA mode to AHCI? I have an SSD and whenever I reset my bios settings I had to switch it from IDE to AHCI or else it bsods over and over.
First of all if you used the right bios then the card that you flashed should of worked after it.
The the fact it does not tells you it was not the right one does it not ?

In any case at this point, I will ask you the brand of the motherboard you have, and it`s model number. Next the exact brand name of the 7970 graphics card. Asus ect.
Also if the motherboard has an on board graphics chip other than the 7970 Ati card in the Pci-e slot.

If you can tell me this then there is a work around, to get the 7970 working again.

Where exactly did you get the new bios update file?, from the maker of the card and there website ?

You see by updating the bios the class plug and play has a conflict since the Id string of the card and Hardware, specs/ vendor Id do not match anymore. #

What was the need for you to update the bios of the graphics card may I ask please ? Overclock ?

Gigabyte Z77-D3H-GA.
It has the HD4000, but when I enable it, it does no difference.
I got the BIOS from the Gigabyte website and flashed it using the method they mentioned, which is the VGA@BIOS.
Yeah, for OC'ing.
This card isnt a good OC'er, and a lot of people reported that after flashing to a newer version they could break the 1200 barrier. Mine cant get past 1120. Stock is 1100.

Tried to switch it via the MB BIOS, but couldnt find it, only enable the onboard graphics, which BTW I think auto-enable when you plug out the GPU.
Also, I have a BIOS backup for my GPU on my desktop, which I cant reach.

Correct, If an Intel SB or IB build, you should have a HD 3000 or HD4000 interneal to the CPU and a Output to monitor on the Backplane. Just move monitor to that connection and Bios should detect and use internal iGPU Added -since auto detect did not work, do as above mentioned enter bios an set to Onboard iGPU.

On your Bios up date to GPU (you did just update FW on GPU, OT the BIOS on the MB, correct.

As weselman stated, Recheck that you applied the correct bios.

There are other issues outside of using an incorrect FW update. For example:
.. Memory error - Always verify Memory is error free befor ever doing a Firmware update.
.. Corrupted file download - normally caught with a checksum error being displayed.. Bad sector on HDD (or where eer you stored the file.
.. Interupped transfer. (normally a power on/off - which you would have indicat4d.

On GPUs Only do a FW update to resolve a problem.

Yes I know what your saying but not every card will do such an overclock of what other people state, it`s luck of the draw I am afraid, just like if you buy a Cpu some overclock great with the same Base Ghz level, and some just do not get as far due to the sillicone used. Give me a few minuets to have a look at the mother board manual and ect ok.

I switched it. It still isnt booting 🙁

Right first of all reset the bios of the mother board back to it`s factory settings.
You will then have to go into the bios if you can, make sure the video cable from the tower is connected via the on board graphics port to the monitor.
It should post, so enter the bios, first turn off the Plug and play option in the bios and set it to manual. next check that the display out put is set to IGFX as default, and not auto in the bios. from what I am reading here it can run a dual graphics card setup. Integrated Cpu/Gpu combo and Pci-e. Try it see if you get any joy.
The only other way I know if doing it is to use an old Pci graphics card with the Pci`e card in the slot and using that to see if you can flash the Pci-e card back to t`s old bios. it has worked in the past but it does depend on how the motherboard works.

Resetted.
Made sure its connected to the MB.
Cant find Plug and Play.
The display out is IGFX now.
Following that, I found my ollllldddd GTS260 from around 2005.
Connected it, it recognized, tried booting windows but I got the same error. The 7970 wasnt connected.
Im starting to think that I've done something beyond messing up the GPU. It wont boot on either safe mode or normal, on the GTS260, 7970, the integrated graphics or the combo of the 7970 and integrated.
I really don't know if I should start freaking out just about now.

Why in the god's name would you flash overkill of 7970 you can squeeze like 5%-10% by overclocking it. Not even worth doing. What bored spoiled kids do these days...
HF with broken PC... try downloading ubuntu or some other usbstick bootable os and check if it will boot at least... so you can root out operating system fail

^Yeah thanks so much mate, I didnt at all work for weeks in a grocery store to get the money to buy that card...
Excuse me for trying to push my hardware to the limit. "In god's name" I dont have the money to keep upgrading my PC, SO I want to be able to OC as much as I can.

Did that countless times. Still, no effect

Well the only thing to do here then as a last resort, is to take the card. plug it in to another system, and try the process of re- flashing the card. It could be a way out of it if you think about it. Have you a good friend willing to try this.? The only other solution I could think that may help ?

Im honestly not sure its the card.
Used it's second BIOS, the onboard GPU, the GTS260, and all act the same.
I think Im gonna drop it off on sunday at the place I bought it, maybe they will be able to figure it out.
Thanks alot for the help tho.
Im going to sleep now, cant hold myself any longer. If you do come up with some ideas, make sure you tell me!
Thanks alot!

There can be sarky people on here, but it does not help someone with a problem trying to resolve it, And most of the time they are speaking from personal experience. Having made the same mistake learning from it. The Irony of it eh. Sarcasm aside. Still I feel sorry for you as a 7970 card is not cheap I know, and you worked hard for it. so ignore posts like like it, it`s understandable why you want to fix it and get it working with a bit of help, were not all the same taltool24198 thank god eh !

Have you tried messing with the Cmos battery? Also if you used the Factory reset header on the motherboard did you reseat the jumper in it's original position after jumping it? It's really beginning to sound like this may have turned into a motherboard problem.
Definitely see if you can find somebody with a computer to pop the 7970 in and test it on. Also have you tried booting with just 1 stick of RAM, I know it probably has nothing to do with the RAM but may be worth a try.

Unplug all of your stuff....take out the mobo battery...

With no GPU in and no mouse or keyboard or anything plugged (no hard drive) in see if it will post. (Put the battery back in tho)

Then add just what you need. Monitor to the mobo, mouse, keyboard. Power on and get into BIOS if you can.

See if there is any change.

Also how far along exactly are you getting in the bootup process? Like are you still able to get past the Motherboard posting? I see you listing a lot of different things you've tried and I'm trying to get a picture of when exactly the system is failing in the bootup process.
