Hello,
Yesterday I began having issues logging into my internet banking and also my emails. It would just say I couldn't reach the destination. It was both on Google and Firefox. After an hour or so of trying, I finally got into everything normally. I thought it was maybe an issue with the internet.
On an unrelated issue (was having flickering in a video game), I went into safe mode to delete my Nvidia shader cache. Upon entering safe mode, I was bombarded with popup messages.
"the system detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application.
ctfmon.exe"
So I went online to see this ctfmon/ct loader stuff and it showed me how to disable it via registry or via services. However there was no service running for it. There was no registry info on it. All the guides that showed how to disable this program (i don't even have it turned on as a feature in windows) didn't work.
So I guessed it was just a bug as I only got the popup in safe mode.
This morning I woke up to find a call from my bank that someone in Miami USA has been using my bank card to pay for stuff like parking space etc.
So I please beg for some urgent help in looking for this virus on my pc. I have already contacted the bank and the police to ensure nothing else is stolen but I cant buy food or anything right now. I need to ensure this is a once off and I can delete any virus.
If I cannot fix the virus, maybe someone could help me figure out the safest way to wipe the computer clean, change all my passwords etc.
Also I want to add that I am a pensioner and not so great with techincal stuff, so patience would be kindly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!!
