Ryzen Build

Planned Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-AB350-GAMING 3 ATX AM4 Motherboard
RAM that I already have: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB)

I can't check the QVL, so can someone please tell me whether these will work. I am trying to utilize the full 3200MHz but I am not sure these two will be compatible. Even if the 3200 cannot be used, will it still work at a lower speed? Also, if these don't work, what alternatives do you suggest?

Solution

If the RAM you already have does not work with the motherboard you're buying, go with JamesSneed's advice and get the FlareX memory. It's designed specifically for AMD Ryzen.

As for the board, your results shouldn't very from board to board within the same product series. Unless the board you buy is DOA, there...
I checked their list of supported memory, and your memory isn't listed. However, you should give it a try. The site says the board will support up to 3200MHz overclocked, but if for some reason you cannot harness this, then your RAM will work perfectly fine at a lower speed.

It will work just maybe not at 3200 Mhz. AGESA v1.0.0.6 is out for the board that may allow the 3200 Mhz speed. I would let it default to 2400Mhz, get everything installed, update the BIOS to the latest (F7 today) to get the AGESA v1.0.0.6 then try to run at 3200 Mhz.

I went with Gskill Flare-x for my Ryzen build as I didn't want to have to mess memory issues and it was QVL'ed from Gskill and Gigabyte for the board I choose.

Thanks, I might as well do this I guess. I know it would vary depending on the store, but should I be able to return it if it doesn't work?
