:hello:

Ok, here it is. This is a mixed question..

First i'm buying a dx10 card for my e8400 rig right now.. I have a 7900gt ko. I am using windows xp.. but will SP3 have dx10 support in it? All of the old articles claim it to be.. but all of the new ones claim it not to be.

Second, i'm looking for a card around 250 bucks.. hopefully eVGA(i am a fanboy) and nvidia. .. i'm looking at the 8800gts (g92) on newegg.. yes no? opinions welcomed..

Third, should i just say eff it and get vista 64 bit home edition?
I have 4gb's of ram.. e8400.. and soon a dx10 card.

Edit: Also.. the reasoning behind this.. age of conan.. dx10 graphics look awesome for it. :)

1. Nope, Window XP will never support DX10...officially.

2. If you need a vidcard now, look for a 8800GTS 512MB, you can find them for around $240 or lower.

3. I suppose so? I'm still on XP.

Thanks for your reply.. i just have been looking at age of conan pictures dx9 vs dx10.. and believe it or not.. you can see a huge difference in quality.. such as landscape and distance viewing.. and lighting.

G92 8800gts is a good choice. But the ECS version cost $169.99 after MIR on Newegg and comes with 3 year warranty. You won't want to keep it for more than 3 years anyway. The price difference seems a little big for most people to ignore. But it's up to you.

If you already have windows and don't need to buy, use the old one. But if you have to buy, get Vista 64bit.

Not sure about DX10 for XP. I wouldn't count on it. Microsoft is using it as a major selling point for Vista. And the beta versions of SP3 do not include it, they'd have to be adding it for the final version.
