Can I just cut off the extra pin on the motherboard or is there an adapter of some sort so I can connect my cases USB

thanks
Ed

You should elaborate on what you want to do. FYI, stripping anything off of a brand new board will void your warranty. It's best you detail which connector on the board you want to deal with and what the make and model of your motherboard is.

I want to hook up my cases front facing USB.
They are labeled USB 1.1 Headers in the Manual, with the following:
+5V 1 2 +5V
Data - 3 4 Data -
Data + 5 6 Data +
GND 7 8 GND
GND 9 10 GND

It's a fairly old Tyan s2882d.

Thanks
Ed

Only 8 pins are used. In more modern MBs it's actually a 9pin header and extra pin is just to locate connector properly or to connect cable shield. Those "extra" pins are on the side, Black negative/ground pin,
