USB 3.0 Devices not working with the USB 3 Port

I have a really peculiar problem, I have a WD my passport ultra and when i connect it to my usb 2 ports it works but when i connect it to my usb 3 ports, it doesnt. The light comes on when i connect it but it just doesnt get detected. But when i connect a normal usb 2 pendrive to this usb 3 port it works, so i am really confused and would like your help.

This sounds a lot like a driver issues to me. So, I would advise you to install/update your USB 3.0 drivers from here: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/HelpDesk_Download/

In case the issue persists, you can try using different USB cable. You can connect the drive to another system that supports USB 3.0 as well.
