[SOLVED] USB 3.0 Drivers are missing

My usb 3.0 drivers are not in device manager or listed in hidden devices either. I have installed the latest BIOs, chipset, and motherboard OS updates and still havent gotten iy. I have also uninstalled all controller devices and restarted my pc to see fi they would install correctly and still nothing. I even tried installing old chipset drivers that had descriptions for usb 3.0 drivers and still nothing. Whenever it tries to install the USB updates it says my asmedia driver could not be found. I have tried manually installing asmedia 3.0 host and it still say cannot be found. My usb ports still function because when I plug in my phone or another device it charges the device. I have made sure in my Bios to enable all ports and USB 3.0 support and its strange because it says asmedia usb 3.0 ,in my bios, legacy support enabled and all usb 3.0 enabled but then nothing in my drivers so I dont know how to activate my ports again. I have tried usb power suspend in power management too. Ive tried installing legacy hardware too and it did not work either.

Motherboard- Asus m597a R.20
Motherboard chipset- amd 970

Yes I tried to but when I try installing it, it just says "Asmedia host controller not found" and fails to download. Ive tried installing windows 7,8, 8.1, and the latest 10 usb drivers to try each version and each one of them said the same message "asmedia could not be found". Its weird because its like its expecting the drivers to be there already.

Check to see if a USB3 program can be uninstalled from the Programs and Features utility.

oh wow thanks, the only other question is how do I manually install it? I just tried but I would have to update one of them and make them into the asmedia device, how do I know which one to make the asmedia host controller instead of a standard enchanced pci to useb host controller. otherwise, when I try adding legacy devices and use that driver file, it says the driver is not compatible with device however, if i try updating for example the "standard enhanced PCI to USB host controller" it allows me to overwrite that drive as the asmedia host controller. its not making sense to me.

I'm curious why you would want to manually install the driver, just let the utility do the install . The overwriting is likely the old driver that was not working

I tried going down the list it didn't work, I restart my pc and then it would say the driver does not work properly, and when I try just installing it from the folder itself it doesn't do anything. This is strange. I tried it this way too just hitting install then restarting pc and still no drivers show up.

Try deleting all your USB drivers, reboot and see what loads..

yeah I just did and it installed the same hardware. Might just have to call asus tech support or geek squad this is so weird.

shows up with a yellow caution triangle and when i open properties it says "device isnt working properly" and if i try updating it, it just goes back to the old driver

Have you tried uninstalling the old driver and forcing the device Manager to install (pick from a list) the newer drivers you downloaded?

win 10 should have drivers built in for USB 3. You shouldn't need to install any at all.
