USB 3.0 gives power, but doesn't recognize devices

My USB 3.0 port on my laptop hasn't worked in a long, long time - I was too lazy to fix it, so I've always just resigned to using the two USB 2.0 ports and haven't had much of a problem. I just use the 3.0 port to charge my phone and whatnot when I'm using the computer. Well today I installed a new SSD, and figured that I'd start with a clean slate and a fresh OS, both to remove clutter and hopefully have a working USB 3.0. No dice.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium on an ASUS U64E. Using Intel 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset. I have two USB Controllers listed under my USB drives in Device Manager (1C26 and 1C2D). I'm wondering if those both correspond to my two USB 2.0 ports, and maybe the 3.0 port isn't being recognized at all? There are no "unknown devices" in Device Manager.

I've tried downloading the Intel USB 3.0 Driver from ASUS, but when I run it I get an error message saying that my system doesn't meet the system requirements. I'm not sure what that is about. I'm at my wit's end trying to get this USB port to work - I've done numerous Google searches and tried looking in the BIOS to see if there were any USB settings I could change (I didn't see any, other than USB Charge), but I've had no luck. Anyone know where I should go from here? Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
First try going to device manage and click action, then click scan for hard ware changes.

Then, if you get some unknown devices, right click once of them, click update drive software and click browse my computer for driver software and search your entire c:\ drive. You might be able to get some of the pre-existing drivers.

If device manager doesn't detect any new hardware, try this updater from intel:http://

Note, I don't have a intel system so my advice may not be that good.

I know I've scanned for new hardware and nothing came up, and I'm 90% sure I've run that utility before and had no success with it. I'm at work right now so I can't get to my computer, but if I remember correctly, that utility displays something in the lower left box (my graphics card, I believe), something in the upper right box (my processor, maybe? I'm not sure), but then doesn't display anything in the lower right box. I'll have to double check when I get home, but I think it tells me that the driver or device cannot be found.

Edit: After running the utility you linked to, it tells me that my device is currently running a new software version (10.something) than the version that is trying to be installed (9.2.0.1030). I selected the option to not overwrite my current software. Should I install the old version instead?

Still no luck. =/
