I have a Dell Inspiron 15-5576 laptop that has (3) 3.0 ports. When I plug my Elgato HD60S in, it says requires 3.0 port to operate.
I installed the Elgato on a different laptop and it works.
I have..
- Updated windows 10 completely
- using the latest HD60S drivers from Elgato
- have tried all 3 ports on the laptop
- verified that in device manager there are no devices not loaded
- verified in device manager Generic USB Hub and USB root hub are both operating at High Speed
- I did not see a specific setting in the Bios to turn USB 3.0 on/off

What else can I try - test - verify?

Thanks so much for any help!

hey CountMike.... I believe so and have check Dells site for updated drivers and didn't see any.
Do you have a suggestion on how I can also verify?
Running Windows 10 which "should" take care of it too.... at least from what I've read.
Device manager shows USB 3.0 controller.

Thank you!

hav eyou tried just letting your windows refresh you USB controllers?

sometimes windows doesnt properly install your usb driver. make sure the usb root hub is installed correctly as well.
go to device manager. locate the USB controllers (something like blah blah 3.1\3.0 host controller). uninstall. restart.
see if it improves your transfer speeds. sometimes by clickin on update instead works as well.

also like mike said. make sure you have the right chipset driver.

marksavio: I will try that and let you know. Thanks for the suggestion!
As far as the drivers, I didn't see anything on Dell's site specific to USB 3 drivers... should I be looking at the motherboard manufacture?

Thanks

I uninstalled the 3.0 host controller, restarted but didn't change

I am downloading the amd driver from dell... 600meg seems huge...

Thanks for the advise and will update soon....

Thanks for that link to help better verify.
I downloaded and ran crystalmark... used a 3.0 hard drive and read was 54mb and write was 36mb

did you ever figure it out?

i think it might be because the AMD CPU is not supported by hd60s?
i ran the system requirements for the hd60s on my laptop and it said i did not meet them

same laptop btw haha
