My curiosity has the best of me here. I have USB 3.0 on my computer so it really does not apply to me but I want to know anyhow. I have a 4k monitor that has USB 3.0 connections. What I would like to know is if I were to hook this up to someone's computer that only has USB 2.0 would they benefit from the increased 3.0 ports? Could they use Flash drives and get the benefit of USB 3.0 speeds through the monitor?

Solution
You need a USB 3.0 host port on the PC to get any benefit from a USB 3.0 hub. If the PC only has a USB 2.0 port, then only the USB 2.0 part of the monitor's built-in hub will be active and usable.

I would assume hdmi that's how I have it connected. I don't know if flash drives carry through it or not but mouse and keyboard do.

Thank you.
