Hello, i have an x470 asrock taichi mb and a ryzen 7 2700x cpu with Windows 10.
When i installed everything i get constantly an usb error message that says that the usbdevice isn't recognized. The last usb deviceyou connected to the computer malfuncioned and windows doens't recognize it.

It keeps appearing and disappearing. The same in device manager. It pops up and disappear and pops up again etc. It says unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed). When i unisnatll it, it's coming back again. When i disabled AMD USB 3.10 extensible host controller - 1.10 (microsoft) then it's gone. I tried to find another driver for the AMD USB 3.10 extensible host controller - 1.10 but haven't been successful yet. Has anyone maybe an idea how i can solve this problem?

One more thing. The only 2 usb devices that i am using and connected are an usb keyboard from logitech and an unifyer from logitech for the mouse. Both are recognized.

Thanks in advance!

i used the program and it says it's port 18. On one momen it doesn't give an error and then i see this:

=========================== USB Port18 ===========================

Connection Status : 0x00 (No device is connected)
Port Chain : 3-18

SupportedUsbProtocols : 0x03

Then i get the error again an seeing this:

It doesn't say anything to me.

It keeps connecting and disconnecting.

Hopefully this info is useful

you would google this device:
USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\6&13181899&0&18

most likely you do not have your motherboard usb drivers installed.
or you plugged a host port into port 18 and there is no driver that can be installed.

or your bios version does not match your driver versions. happened when people use the default generic Microsoft usb drivers

you might go to control panel, device manager and look for failed device installs. you might uninstall the usbdrivers and let plug and play reinstall them. make sure you have the most current bios and usb driver and cpu chipset drivers on your machine.

some apple devices will pull too much current from a port and will cause a port to shutdown.
just in case you have an apple product connected.

also, new motherboard are putting a lot of devices on the usb subsystem, so it could be something like a sensor, finger print reader, webcam, bluetooth device, or ??? that does not have its driver installed.

some usb devices not only need drivers but they also have their own firmware and firmware updates that you have to install. for example., some mice and cd players and some usb hub controllers

I have also had usb ports that shutdown because they were misaligned and shorted out against the case. I have seen machines that had the usb header connection to the motherboard inserted backward, or on the wrong header on the motherboard. (non usb header pins)
or the header was offset by one set of pins. I ended up pulling the cables, and checking pin 1 on the cable with pin 1 on the board header. make sure it is a usb header.

here is info on what may cause the problem:

Thanks a lot for all your help and information. To rule things out i installed Windows with just a ps2 keyboard and not a single usb device or cable connected but as soon Windows is installed that message pops up. Only when i disable the AMD USB 3.10 extensible host controller - 1.10 it's gone but then BT isn't working and at least 2 3.1 ports on the back panel. The only amd 3.1 drivers that are available are from Microsoft. It's in Windows 10. Not sure if the problem is related to that.

I installed all drivers that came with Asrock but there aren't usb drivers and neither on their support page of their website. I am not sure what port 18 is but with the clean install all that i used was the ps2 keyboard and the Windows dvd. I have an m2 ssd installed in an m2 socket, a vga card and that's it.

In the device manage i get that error about the usb, Is stays there for 30 seconds and then disappear again and no yellow mark. Then after 30 seconds it's back and 30 seconds later it's gone again. I have deleted all usb drivers and they were all founs again but the same drivers and of course the error was still there.

With my previous installation i used driver Booster pro to find missing and outdated drivers so i guess there was not a driver that i was missing.

I have only used the usb ports from the backpanel. So no cables are used for the other available usb connectors on the mainboard.
there are 6 usb 3.1 ports (gen1) on the backpanel and they are all working. I couldn't test the other 2 ports, the 3.1 Gen 2 ports, A and C. Not sure what to put on C.

I read that blog and i see indeed a code 43 but still i have no idea how i can solve this problem. I haven't connect any usb device.

I have installed the mainboard in my tower with screws but it seems that the backpanel is not completely closed to the back panel thing(sorry i don't know the english word) that you put on the outside of the tower so that the backpanel will fit in that thing. Can that cause a problem?

Again, thanks a lot for all your help and suggestions!

I would talk to the motherboard vendor, they should know what device is on port 18 and where to get a firmware update or the proper driver for that device. I assume it is going to be some device on the motherboard.
you might also go into the bios and start disabling devices to see if you can figure out what the device is.

windows plug and play is going to detect the hardware and try to find a driver, it is going to do this over and over.
you might want to cmd.exe as an admin and stop the plug and play

net.exe stop "plug and play"

i would guess that the support people for the motherboard may already know of this issue by now.
unless it is a defect. putting all the usb devices together in one chain means one device can mess up all of them.
at least when usb 2 and three were on different chips only one would get messed up. usb 3 might break while usb 2 still worked fine.

Thanks again for all your help and suggestions! I solved the problem. I was so tired of this problem that i decided to open the pc tower and see if everything was well connected. Then suddenly i saw a cable that was connected to the cooler and was called usb led fan. So there was an internal usb cable after all. My mistake but this is the first time that i had to do with such a cable, so i was totally not aware of the cable.

I guess it wasn't plugged in well but with all the cables it's sometimes impossible to check. Anyway, i took it off and reconnected it again on the mainboard and the message was gone!

I'm very happy that it's finally solved. Thanks again for all your great help, suggestions and patience!

Best regards,
Blackadder
