USB C 3.1 Cable OnePlus 3

I have bought the following cable on eBay.

I bought it, so I could easier connect my phone to my PC by having a permanent cable availeble. But when I try to connect with it, I get the error message, that my PC doens't recognises the USB device. When I try with a standard OnePlus 3 cable (delivered with the phone), there is no problem.

Can the problem be, that the cable is only for charging or is it something else?

There have been a lot of problems with C cables and them not being to Spec, I would put it down to that.

Did you try both ways on the C side? Sounds like a bad cable.

The problem should come due to 1+3 implementation.
1+3 does not have USB 3.1 type C, it has USB 2 type C.
USB 2 type C is not exactly common on the market and this could lead to problems, if you are not using accesories from 1+.
Basically, I would say something in the direction of what 13thmonkey mentioned already.

and they work fine on my one plus 3.

Under the latest update I do have to tell it that I'm doing a file transfer and not just wanting power.
