Usb cable powers but wont send data

Have a disk drive that uses a male to male USB cable. When I plug it in, the drive gets power but Windows won't recognize the drive. Suggestions?

Have you tried all the different USB ports, different cable? Can you test another USB device and see how that behaves.

make sure the usb header is connected to mobo
