It's an old Acer Aspire laptop I use on occasions. Originally it had Windows Vista pre-installed, but I never managed to find the correct USB driver for Windows 10.
I know Windows 10 is supposed to pick up the driver automatically, and it does, but it probably picks up the wrong driver. If I keep the device connected, for example my mouse, it does still work so it's not a huge problem.

Also if I connect a device, like a USB pen drive, initially it doesn't work, but if I disable the Yellow flagged driver and enable it after that, the yellow flag go away. Or if I restart the laptop the device starts to work in spite of the yellow flag.

I know that this laptop is now obsolete but I'd like to repair the problem and learn from the experience. Thanks for looking.

If you can find the drivers for your laptop that is specific to Windows Vista, then you can install said drivers in compatibility mode, i.e, Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility tab>Windows X(from the drop down menu). As for your drivers, can you provide the model/SKU to your Acer laptop so the community can try and see if they come up with anything?

The driver you are looking for is the Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - Driver.

Unfortunately Intel deleted all of their downloadable drivers for older products back in 2019, so if you want an actual Intel version and not what Microsoft included with Windows 10 you'll have to google for it and take your chances that it's clean.

Looking at this more closely I noticed that it happens when the laptop is cold, meaning, when I first start it in the morning, multiple stars did not bring up the fault.
So I'm now thinking that maybe it's a hardware fault after all (on both USB ports that has individual controllers) and not a driver. 😒Please your insight.
