I have been experiencing problems waking from sleep state ever since upgrading the BIOS from 1401 to 1801 (on 25.11.2013). First it just froze every tenth or so time the system was waken up. Pressing of the reset button was required to start up the system again.

Now today I have twice received a notification saying:"USB Device Over Current Detected - System Will Shut Down in 15 seconds". The mobo seems to be fine, and this only happens when waking from sleep. I have only keyboard and mouse connected to USB ports. The voltages are fine (core 1,38V, +3,3V 3,40V, +5V 5,04V, +12V 12,10V).

I also asked ASUS but their only comments were: "These problems with sleep are not uncommon. You cannot downgrade your BIOS".

I am so disappointed with ASUS and partly with myself (why did I upgrade as everything was fine!).
What could or should I do?

This mobo has "ASUS Anti-Surge Protection", could this be malfunctioning now after BIOS upgrade? I see no other possibility than this upgrade that is causing this.

My friends anti-surge was failing and he had to disable it. look for a option in BIOS for disabling USB over-current.

Although not recommended you can usually downgrade BIOS but you should be prepared for it to say that it failed and for you to then re-flash the latest BIOS.

Thank your for your comments. What would be the safest way to do the downgrade? EZ-Flash 2 does not allow downgrade (I tried already), CrashFree BIOS 3 is the only option?

I hope ASUS can fix this in future BIOS updates, there were two version in between, both increasing system stability. Not in my case.
