I connect my usb memory to the computer, it appears for a second on the my computer window and then it disappears and a message pops up telling me that i need to format my disk. origionally the flash used to FLOOD my screen with format requests which made me suspecious that it might be a virus. i installed USBScan and though it could not grant me access to my flash drive i am no longer plagued by the constant barrage of messages asking me to format my flash drive.
I used CMD (as admin) and ran disk part :
Disk 0 Online 931GB
Disk 1 No Media 0 B
I tried removing the readonly from disk 1, it was a success but the "clean" command returns with "there is no media in the device"
I installed bootICE and it returns the following error on the physical disk tab when i select the USB drive : readfile error: the device is not ready.
bootICE however does list my flash drive as jetflash transcend 32gb.
is it a virus? or is my flash drive gone bad? I'm not taking any chances and will be re-installing my windows just to make sure.
