Hi, I am using Asus Prime H410M-E Mobo and am having issue with USB HDDs.. All USB ports work fine when using keyboard, mouse, webcam, connecting mobile via type C usb, USB wifi device, printer, etc etc... However when I insert USB HDD in any of the USB ports, they do not get detected and show only a permanent light on the device (no blinking for read/write)... On touching the HDD, it feels like it starts spinning n suddenly stops... this happens with all 3 USB HDDs I have, 1 is Seagate n other 2 are WD... Issue also occurs when all other USB ports r freed up n only HDD is connected...
I am not using any UBS extender and using CV450 PSU...
Pls help...

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

We're going to need a little more information from you. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

As for your storages, mind sharing a link to the drives or images to said drives? If they are EoL drives, might want to host your images on Imgur and then parse the links here. On a side note, what version of Windows 10 are you on? What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? Lastly, that CV unit is a gloried VS unit, meaning they aren't good units to have in a system.

Thanks for your response!

Here are the details:
CPU: Intel core i3 10100
Motherboard: Asus Prime H410M-E, with bios version 1401
Ram: 8GB Ballistix Sport LT 2666
SSD/HDD: Crucial 120Gb SATA SSD and Seagate 1TB SATA HDD
GPU: N/A, graphics built in processor
PSU: Corsair CV 450
Chassis: Local make (Zebronics) - but I am connecting HDD to Mobo USB directly not via the chassis USB 2 ports
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

The external hard drives contain random files nothing much like os images or anything.. all 3 of them work fine on my dell laptop..
