I am having keyboard issues with my new Lenovo P300 workstation running Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Specifically, under my user login, the keyboard works fine, but when we switch users to my wife's profile and login, the numbers on the 10-key pad stop working. The numlock key still functions and the screen indicates the numlock as being on or off along with an audio chime. When numlock is off, the Home, PgUp, End and PgDn work fine.

I flashed the most recent bios - no change. I've tried both a USB keyboard and a wireless keyboard. Both have the same issue.

I'm at a loss for new ideas to explain how a user profile could impact the function of a keyboard.

Solution
On your wifes profile, under the control panel --> ease of access --> ease of access center --> Change how your mouse works, see if the 'turn on Mouse keys' is enabled. This setting can be enabled by default which allows the tenkey pad to act as arrow keys for the mouse pointer.

This field also appears if you select 'Change how your keyboard works'.
Does the computer come with keyboard / mouse software other than the default windows tools installed? It may be that if you were the primary account that aftermarket software is configured correctly but does not start or is not configured for the second account.
