I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post my question but here goes? My microscope camera I bought on fleabay a few years ago stopped working a few weeks after using it? Ive since re-installed win 7 64 bit on HP P6-2203a with A8550 CPU,8GB ram, 2 x 1 TB HDD. Ive decided to get serious again and try and get it to work. I plugged it into a blue USB slot on the front of the computer and a message came up saying it was downloading the driver. I then tried to find where to click it to start? but I couldn't find anything? Thats including the device manager, imaging devices only had the normal USB camera? Ive tried in the past to download different microscope drivers but nothing ever worked? I'm 60+ y/o, so a bit behind on the software side of things? The microscope has no brand name or markings and the seller has long departed fleabay. When I first plugged it in, it just worked with no CD to download drivers or anything? Any ideas on how I could get this going again would be appreciated.

I checked on windows update and found that was empty as well? All my previous updates are missing? I had stopped Microsoft essentials updates about 18 months ago so I enabled it again and ran a full scan,it came up with nothing? Thats why I turned it off in the first place because it never ever detected anything ever in the approx 4 years I ran it? The win 7 repair disk burnt on 8/8/2013 wont work now either, I tried it just out of curiosity,it did work because Ive used it before. How do I boot from the Kapersky repair disk? Do I have to go into the bios and disable windows or something?

Mozilla Firefox keeps on crashing and things are getting weird. Can you pass this on to some experts who can help me with this because now I have no phone or email and its important that I have it up and running again soon.

step by step please.
no, you didn´t explain it:
"I think it may have been corrupted by me using CCleaner to clean the registry"
back to topic:

don´t format or any data you still have not backuped yet, is gone.

How did you burn the kaspersky CD? The iso file has to be burned in a special way, because it´s an image.

after successfully burning this cd, restart your PC and boot from CD
eventually you have to enter bios and set the boot priority to CD/DVD/optical drive

I was talking about the USB microscope maybe having been corrupted through using CCcleaner registry cleaner a few years ago and I had to re-install windows way back then? You don't seem to be paying attention to what Ive been saying at all? Ive had to repeat myself a number of times? I burnt the Kapersky ISO file as an ISO file using Windows disk burner? Ive also gone into BIOS and configured CD/DVD to boot first.Ive restarted with the Kapersky repair disk and windows starts as normal, the disk doesn't boot as far as I know? Nothing happens anyway? Ive read the instructions/user manual for the repair disk but you would have to be an IT professional to understand it? Thats why I was saying its hard to do because I have no Google to find out what the acronyms etc...mean? I have burnt the Kapersky repair file as an ISO,set the BIOS to boot from CD/DVD and it doesn't work! You know that I'm 60+ Y/O and don't know much, yet you've dumped this stuff on me expecting me to work it out from there? Remember about 30 posts ago I asked for a fix for my USB microscope and now my O.S. is stuffed,if anyone has a right to be pissed off I think its me. I'm not blaming you for this happening because you obviously wouldn't do it on purpose but the facts remain. Another thing is I keep asking you questions but you don't answer and sometimes when you do its out of context? I asked you, if I have a recent backup on a separate HDD and I format C drive,(wipe it) can I run my Win 7 64 bit repair disk to reload windows, then restore my files from backup that's on a separate HDD?

I disabled windows from starting, tried to boot from the Kapersky disk and found that the ISO image hadn't been burnt at all even though it said it did at the time and verified it? So I burnt another one on windows image burner again and turned off windows in the BIOS. Now Kaperskys working but it cant connect to the internet to update its antivirus files? I ran a scan anyway but I don't think it picked up anything? It said something about 2 events and 4 objects? My internet connection is optical fiber then a cable to a Wi Fi router. I plug straight into the router,I don't use the Wi Fi.

Sorry for not answering all of your questions.

If the repair disk can´t repair your windows, it´s useless.

One last thing before wiping c
boot the pc, press key "F8" several times to get a menu before windows starts, there select "Last Known Good Configuration"

if this doesn´t work:
How did you backup your files? Which tool did you use?

Ive downloaded and installed a whole lot of registry ZIP files to bring my registry back to stock configuration,so just about everything is working again.I un-installed K-Lite Codecs and it fixed the desktop icons. The main things to fix now are Firefox browser(couldnt load xpcom) and Adobe Flashplayer keep crashing on Youtube etc...But works with IE Internet Explorer. The tool I use for back-up is windows back-up? By the way back-up says that the back-up catalog is corrupted or been tampered with? So there's a few things still not right.

I kept restarting and hitting F11 until it finally worked,so now Ive re-installed windows and everything's back to normal. I had a glitch with restoring my backup, all my folders were empty? So I ran restore again replacing the folders with a copy and now its all go Thunderbirds! Whew, what a nightmare that was. I realize now where the virus got in, it was when I was prompted to turn off my antivirus protection to install Java 8 update. I was still online at the time? I didn't go anywhere else just to the Java 8 update and clicked on that? Ill try Yawcam and install the java update offline in a week or so to let my nerves settle a bit.LOL

Be sure this java installation is not a virus itself, get it directly from www.java.com and check the downloaded file with your anti virus application. Which antivirus program is it?
Normally you don´t have to deactivate the antivirus protection to install java correctly.

Yay! Yawcam works great, its even better than how the microscope worked originally.Thankyou very much Helpstar.
