Question USB Mouse/Keyboard not working when I start new build

As per thread title...
I have just built a PC on the Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite DDR4 Mobo
Once i've got it into BIOS...it doesn't accept any input from keyboard/mouse - It has entered BIOS by me tapping the DEL key so presumably it works before I get into BIOS (wierd!)
I'm assuming there's a setting I need to change but (catch 22) i can't enter/alter settings without the Keyboard or Mouse...
What have I done wrong?

Make and model of your peripherals(keyboard and mouse)? Which ports are you working with on your system?

I was just using a cheap "generic" keyboard/mouse (My Razer Blackwidow and Roccat Kone are still connected to my current PC) would it make a difference?
As far as I can tell NO ports are working AFFTER I enter BIOS - they must work before or I wouldn't be able to enter BIOS by pressing DEL
