Usb not showing up on my pc or xbox

I have an issue with my 32 gb usb. I plug it into my laptop, i hear the noise that it's recognized, but doesn't appear when i open my documents. Under devices and printers it shows it, but it just says "Usb 3.0" and it gives me very general information about it. It doesn't list the storage or anything. Please help!

Which version of Windows?

Go to disk management and if it shows up in there, right click it and press format.

WARNING: ONLY DO THIS IF IT IS NEW OR YOU ARE ALRIGHT WITH ERASING THE DATA FROM IT. FORMATTING DELETES EVERYTHING FROM THE USB DRIVE.
